  1. My 83yo mom is planning to be a flower girl at my nieces outdoor wedding this October. She is Body Type A although is about 15 pounds overweight. Yesterday we went to a bridal shop to try on dresses and pant suits with a "style assistant". Awful experience, everything mom tried on made her look like a football player. She was a bit distressed. Next week I'll take her to Nordstrom and Macy's. Any tips on style or color? She is 5'6" and weighs 160#'s.

  1. I had a quick look on the internet and found an article (with photos) on "grandmother of the bride dresses" on www.dressforthewedding.com. I liked all the outfits shown. There was a navy blue guipure lace and chiffon pantsuit with jacket, which looked lovely. (Just checked it's no longer available - but useful for ideas). David's Bridal have some good articles on their website, including one about choosing colour of outfit to go with the colours worn by the others in the bridal group. I think blue or grey, or blue-grey, would look good. But it depends on your mom's preferences, and what will blend with the bridal group. I hope she finds something she likes, and has a lovely day.

  2. What a great idea to have your grandma for a flower girl! She will pave the way for her granddaughter with petals. I suggest something floral. Think of what will look good with the basket or whatever she will carry, and the color of the flowers. Also comfort, as she will be outdoors. Thinking of blue-grey...Danny Kaye's suit in White Christmas, with the perfectly-matching shoes.
