Thinking ahead to the fall trends, I would suggest you look for either a "dark moody floral", a lace style, or even a solid color knit. Any of these could be accessorized with a simple necklace or statement earrings to dress it up. If the wedding is at night, I'd go for accessories with more bling. Try to pick out a dress you'll want to wear later for other occasions, such as a date night or going to a show. You could have fun wearing these styles casually with a denim jacket or by tying a button-down chambray shirt at your waistline.
