  1. I'll be wearing this dress to a wedding next week. Every time I add something to it, I feel it becomes frmpy, and old looking. What shoes would go? Do I wear tights? Air conditioning is always too cold for me, and it will be chilly at night, so what jacket should I wear? Ugg!

  1. You look lovely in that dress. I would look for sparkly sandals with as much heel as you are comfortable wearing. I would also add sparkle with jewelry, switching out the necklace you are wearing for something the same length and weight but more blingy, it is a celebration after all. Tights, I don't think so unless you are somewhere where the seasons have already turned. Maybe shimmery lotion on your legs. And I would carry a wrap/shawl not a jacket, the shawl or wrap in a fabric of similar weight to the fabric of the dress.

  3. Sorry, didn't mean to double post.

  4. Agreeing with suzer on all counts. :-) I would just add that a shawl/wrap is a fine idea, but you could also use a shrug in a dressy fabric (maybe satin, or even something sparkly!).

  5. Wow, you girls are awesome! I wasn't getting the fun celebration look that's needed for the occasion. I tend to be too self conscious and so avoid bling and fun stuff. Will rethink the outfit and try again. Thankyou so very much!

  6. I agree with what has been said. And maybe add something in the colour that suits you best?

  7. Thought I might need something a bit more festive for the wedding, one week away. It could be cold at night(near freezing) or it could be cold at night and warm/cool/cold during the day. Anyway, will need a cover up for air conditioned hall, and accessories. Any suggestions?

  8. Lovely. I think the advice re accessories re the other dress still stands for this one: sparkly sandals, shawl or cardigan (blue or white), sparkly necklace etc. Hope you have a great time!

  9. Thanks for the advice everyone. It really helped.

  10. Thanks for sharing everyone! This topic was perfect for me. I have a special event coming up and I'm trying to decide what to wear and how to accessorize. Nice ideas :)

  11. I think the black one (that I too agree is gorgeous yet very simple) dressed-up with colors and shine on a wrap or jewelry, will not be remembered if you happen to use it again with the same company... fauvette

  12. Had a great time at the wedding. There is nothing more beautiful than a bride on her wedding day! The day (service) was hot and evening (meal & dance) was quite cool with the air conditioning on. Was glad for my to-the-knee dress, closed toe slingbacks and then added pantyhose and a light beige cropped sweater/ shrug for the air conditioned evening. Wow, women of all ages wore very short dresses and no stockings. I'd be blue with cold doing that! lol! I envy the guys getting to wear sensible shoes, pants, and jacket. Didn't add any sparkly necklace because I don't own any. Will put it on my shopping list for next time. And will use the darker dress for dinners and shows. Thanks again, for the help.

  13. I would consider a well-made pair of trousers with glossy penny or kiltie loafers or spectators or wingtips. You can add a matching jacket. Your hair, blouse and jewelry can be as feminine as you like. I think this is a cute look.

  14. Sandy, sounds like you put together a lovely outfit in the end! Well done. (catwomanbert, the wedding has passed...)

  15. Catwoman, I will look for something like your suggestions for the Christmas season. Thank you.
