I was just wondering why there is talk of Borax in the laundry blog when Borax is not mentioned in the reciped for detergent. Am I missing something?

Also having issues with the recipe. Baking soda is listed in description but not recipe.

OOps! I mean borax is listed in the cost list but not the recipe.

I noticed that, too. I think the recipe is supposed to be Borax instead of baking soda. I have a liquid recipe that uses Borax, washing soda and castille soap, but I have to use the hand blender on it every week because it gets too thick and/or clumpy. I'm anxious to try this recipe.

I'm new to misssmartypants and was wondering where is the recipe for the laundry detergent... i cannot seem to find it... sorry...

Does anyone ever answer these questions? I, too, was flumoxed by the lack of correlation between recipe and the ingredients list.
for Chezzap...
The "recipe" was included with the most recent Personal Profile article. I don't think it is available on the regular website. HTH.

I have been making my own laundry soap for a few years....I use a liquid version using the same ingredients...to answer your question, I think the baking soda that is listed is actually Arm and Hammer Washing Soda....NOT Baking soda used for cooking. It is confusing...it is found in the laundry aisle close to the Borax.

I'm just bumping up this post in the hopes that someone else can answer some more of the questions.

I'm very curious myself. I have very sensitive skin and only use 2 brands (both considered environment friendly and without added fragrance). It would be interesting to try creating my own.

@sforrest95 - would you be willing to share your recipe so we could try it?
