5-6-19 THIS WEEK: A DIY Makeover

Can't afford a style makeover? Think again.

This week...get the inside scoop on the simplest and quickest ways you can design your very own "style makeover". Women simply don't think about these minor, yet very noticeable changes they can make with their appearance. Who knew such small tweaks can have such a HUGE impact on one's appearance? Well, this gal, MissusSmartyPants knows it!

This week, the 1-2-3 strategy. Use this strategy daily to "make over" your style.

It all adds up. Small changes or "tweaks" in one's appearance adds up to huge improvements. I found this to be the case last weekend when I overheard a conversation in one of the dressing rooms of a department store. It was a conversation between two young gals that were trying to decide what to buy. They were definitely "bargain hunting" since it sounded like most of the clothing was selected from the sales racks. Their conversation was about getting something REAL CHEAP because they wanted something new for the weekend. This is the exact problem with so many women's wardrobes! They think an "instant wardrobe fix" helps them look more stylish. Often this theory backfires and the "bargain" item ends up as closet clutter--never to be worn again. I thought to myself (as I over-heard their conversation) "Wouldn't you rather wait and purchase something full price that you'll enjoy wearing over and over?"

Is nothing looking good anymore...yet you want to improve your style quickly...use the "1,2, 3 strategy" from this week's Style Article: "Do It Yourself Makeover" will fast-forward your style.

Nothing to wear??? Don't bargain shop.

Use this week's "1,2,3 strategy" and makeover your style!

With a plan...suddenly have lots to wear!

You stand in front of a full closet, yet can’t find anything to wear. You’ve got the "style blahs" and you know it. It happens to the best of us. All women fall into style ruts, from time to time. When I start to feel bored and uninspired with what I've been wearing lately...I tell myself it's a good thing. I am actually grateful because by identifying that I'm getting stuck wearing the same things; it's a step towards changing (updating) my style. Style is constantly evolving. It never stays put...it changes and evolves...and that's exactly how our style needs to be.

When your style lacks excitement--take serious action! Use this week's "1,2, 3 strategy" to help you RENEW YOUR STYLE!

Rain, rain go away! This week, I spent quite a bit of time outdoors-even though the weather was rainy, just about every day!

Yeah, it wasn't a "fashion moment" kind of day.

I went to a outdoor concert (venue pictured below) and it was cool and rainy evening. I had over my denim jacket and cowboy boots, a big blue rain slicker and beanie cap (trying and "save" my hair)!

Thankfully, as the venue started to fill up...the sun came out and everything dried out. It ended up a beautiful evening full of positive energy and live entertainment.

I'm so glad I didn't let the wet weather get me down.

MSP's Weekly Style Mission

Lack of closet space getting you down? Don't let lack of space create a cluttered mess in your closet (or drawers)! Instead, slowly cull through your clothing racks, shelves and drawers to release the clutter--then organize what's left.

This week's Mission: Store your accessories and clothing--creatively! Here are some fab suggestions of how you can store your clothes and accessories....

Lots of storage, little space

Use a towel bar to store camisoles, tank tops, scarves and/or even belts....

OR...How about molding from the hardware store to create a shoe rack?

(Below) Use bottle tabs on hangers to hang your accessories with your daily outfit...

OR...Use a spice and mug rack to store jewelry...

More clever, creative ways to store your jewelry....

You've got to SEE it to wear it!!!

What SYSters are Saying

Dear Leslie,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the knowledge you have imparted to me.  I am so confident as I purchase clothes and put outfits together now.
My closet has been purged, even down to new and almost new Pendleton suits!  As I have lost weight, I fit in to my old (but not worn) wool suits and jackets.  I am even giving them to the Thrift Shop because they are "not my style".  It hurts, but I do realize the difference in how I feel when I am dressed in clothes that flatter my body shape.  Thank you again.
Hugs, Karen

Dear Missus,

I’m so grateful I found your website. What a God send it has been. I just started back to work full time and I desperately needed serious wardrobe updating so the timing was right.

Since I’ve been investing in a new work wardrobe I wanted to be sure I made smart purchases. Since I’ve had your help I’m off to a wonderful start!

I have to say last week’s article was the best! I found it to be invaluable information that I’ll use over and over again. I also created a style journal so I can save this and many of your other weekly postings.

Thanks for sharing your talents with women like me who need a style overhaul. Fondly, Vicki
