MSP's Weekly Style Mission

Dear SYSters,

I want you to FEEL success with your style.

Since I know many of you (quite well I might add) I know that you get a little “side-tracked”...so this week’s Style Mission is just for YOU!

This week’s Style Mission is to acquire one (1) missing wardrobe item. (Log in to your Personal Profile to review the "Must-Have Wardrobe Basics" list, if needed)

For example, if it’s a pair of great fitting jeans that still eludes you; this week go and search (and try on lots) of jeans—but only jeans! Ignore the cute blouses nearby, stay away from the clearance table of sweaters, listen to MissusSmartyPants and stay focused on JEANS!

By filling in the gaps of your basics, you'll become more stylish. Better style starts with a good core wardrobe.

It’s the great fitting basics that are the glue of your wardrobe. Stay focused. Get what you really need-nothing more.

Love, Leslie MSP

Here is my top recommended jean.

It's classic, a flattering straight leg + it has amazing slimming stretch!

What SYSters are Saying

Leslie, CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a US citizen!! This is so huge, and I wanted to send my best wishes to you as the daughter of an immigrant war bride and a WWII serviceman. Love, luck, good health, and happiness to you, Jackie G.

P.S. I renewed my lapsed membership in honor of your announcement -- I know there are many great guides I missed while I was lapsed, but I am now back in the fold, so to speak.

MSP HERE: Jackie,

Thanks! I appreciate your kind comments, and your business (a renewed membership).

I’m happy to say I’m a proud American. It took years to get up the courage to do it, it was a long wait, and now I feel complete in a strange sort of way!

Love, Leslie MSP

Congrats on all you did since Jan. and big congrats and welcome to citizenship!!  Judy

Congratulations, Leslie! Thanks for the inspiration and motivation.  I need it right now!

From a grateful (former) subscriber—

Dear Leslie,

Even though we have never met, you have helped me express honor and respect to people I love. In the last 8 years I did not attended 3 funerals of people I deeply cared for; because I was too embarrassed about how I had let myself go - being a mom. I regret that my shame prevented me from honoring their life. It was a reversed type of pride.

I recently attended my father-in-laws funeral and will be at a friend’s soon. I am so comfortable now that I can meet the needs of grieving people. I have not lost weight. You have just taught me how to allow my outside reflect what is on my insides. I feel friendship toward you. Thanks a million! Deanne

MSP HERE: Dear Deanne,

Wow. Your story is quite moving and personal.

I think Coco Chanel said it best…“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something--but to be someone”.

Just be You. When we finally decide to let go of our “stinking thinking” we can be our authentic selves!

You are loved Deanne. By your friends and family. You are also part of our MSP style community where we all explore style together (some for the first time) and it’s okay to make ‘mistakes’ and not always get it right. It's a journey where we are continually changing and trying new things. Enjoy, and just--be--you.

With hugs and affection.

Love, Leslie MSP

Dear MSP:

Success story...the other day at work a co-worker who I don't interact with a lot stopped me in the hallway and said "You are looking good. What are you doing? Your hair looks good, you outfits are stylish and you look like you have lost weight." SMILE. Why thank you! I have started an exercise program (and in my head continued to list off I'm taking care of myself, AND dressing for my body type, standing up straighter, having a better attitude, etc.) Another SMILE.

Love, Linda

Benefits of clearing out the closet: Whoo Hoo! You can see everything!

Dear MSP! I FINALLY DID IT (slowly & with some pain). I've gotten rid of all the clothes that don't fit, colors don't work & also -- the clothes that look cheaply made.
The result? It is soooo much easier to get dressed in the morning. Just about everything coordinates with everything else.

I used to have this weird habit where I wouldn't wear my favorite things to "save them." Now, I only have my favorite things, so it feels like I'm spoiling myself every day.

Thank you MSP!!

MSP HERE: I hear you on the closet clutter. I'm undergoing a closet re-do myself. You are so right-less clothes (but the right ones) makes dressing so much easier.

Thanks for also bringing up "saving" good clothes by not wearing them. This sounds silly, but way too common. WEAR THEM. Life is short, enjoy everything-including fab clothes!

Love, Leslie MSP
