1-22-18 THIS WEEK: Lose 10 Pounds in 10 Minutes

January 22, 2018, 2:14 pm by MSP

Another week, another fresh start. Last week nothing went quite right, so this week, I'm excited to start off on a fresh note. I'm feeling positive, upbeat, and looking forward to a fabulous week. How about you?

We all have "one of those weeks" where nothing goes quite right. Between my busy (overbooked) schedule, plus several looming deadlines...last week left me short on time and frazzled. I was eager to get into the stores for some "research" and "me" time (aka: retail therapy). It never happened and I continued to feel stressed. This week is going to be different.

This week will be different. I've got an open schedule (I'll be able to look in the stores at the latest styles), I'm sharing my favorite topic (instant slimming tips) and I've got plans this weekend (I promise to take outfit pictures to share next week).

Ready to look instantly 10 pounds slimmer?

THIS WEEK: MSP's visual dressing tips!

This week's topic: "Lose Ten Pounds in Ten Minutes"...certainly does sound too good to be true. And boy, couldn't we all use some "instant weight loss" tips this last week of January? Instant weight loss would be nice, but the truth is ... there are no magical ways to instantly lose ten pounds. I do have, however, awesome dressing tips that will make you look 10 pounds slimmer-instantly!

DRESS slimmer! Put away your ab-roller (unless you are into that sort of thing)...I've got a better idea of how you can look instantly fantastic in the clothes you wear. Relax, I'm not going to suggest you wear super-tight shapewear (that takes 10 minutes to get out of...when you have to pee really, really bad!). I'm your friend and I wouldn't do that to you!

This week's article concentrates on styles that 'slim' your body. So, if you have a curvy figure, a large bust, thick middle, and/or large hips (some, or all of these issues)...you will LOVE these amazing tips to balance your shape~instantly. With complete outfits that explain why they are slimming; your wardrobe will never be the same.

Love, Leslie MSP

I asked, "How has MSP helped you?"

Share your story at MSP's Facebook page..

Leslie, You have helped me remember my seasonal colors.  I purged all clothes that were the wrong colors, and selected 3 neutrals and 3 accent colors.  This has helped me mix and match and create more outfits.  Also your suggestions from your eBook capsule dressing have been helpful.  I got rid of all the pants that were wrong for my body type too. I never wore them and now I know why.  I always enjoy when you include lots of pictures in your articles.

Thanks!!

Dear Leslie, Thanks for all your great info, ideas and fun advice. You have made a huge difference to the self confidence, style and presentation for many lovely women out there!

Dear Leslie,

I loved your challenge to use 8 pieces for a week's wardrobe. As I generally wear suits for work, I allowed myself one extra item, but did manage a whole week with 9. I added in a variety of necklaces, including a Christmas present I hadn't yet worn and a silk scarf. I received a compliment on at least two of the days, including the day after a late night out celebrating Chinese New Year when I had deliberately opted for a dress I could pack easily and throw on with the same jacket I'd worn with a skirt the day before and an up-do for my hairstyle, as I was staying over at a friend's house. No effort at all! I also ended up wearing one of my work shirts over the weekend, sleeves rolled up to expose the snazzy lining, with my casual trousers. Never worn like this before, and a really great smart casual look. I love these challenges!

- Navy Skirt Suit (Monday/Thursday)
- Turquoise Cardigan (Friday/Saturday)
- Red long-sleeved top (Tuesday/Thursday)
- Yellow button-up shirt (Monday/Sunday)
- Black knitted sleeveless top (Friday)
- Navy Trousers (Friday/Sunday)
- Black Skirt (Tuesday)
- Black Jacket (Tuesday/Wednesday)
- Black/Navy Dress (Wednesday/Saturday)

MSP's Weekly Style Mission

This week's Style Mission: Wear an A-line skirt this week.

This wardrobe basic is one of the best 'figure fixers' a woman could own!

Whether your hips are slim or full and something curvy in-between...an A-line skirt makes your figure look close to "perfect"!

Hopefully you have at least one A-line skirt in your closet. If so, wear it this week. It will quickly remind you how wonderful and 'balanced' your shape truly is! If you don't own an A-line skirt yet, put it at the top of your must-have list!

A-line skirts are best in a solid color and in a year-round fabric. This way, you can wear this versatile skirt to work with pumps, or for the weekend with playful flats!

What SYSters are Saying

Dear Leslie,

I was a tad skeptical about getting a subscription to your personal fashion advice. But I thought for $15 that I would spend on something else, why not?

I have been ill and on medication for several years, the medication made me gain 18 pounds in a week. Depression, overeating, not being able to be active, boredom, overeating more, I gained another 60 pounds in 2 years. I work from home so don't need to "dress nice". My husband and I run a business from home and don't make much money for extras like clothes.

Really long story short, we got paid for a good sized job and I took $125 and went shopping after purging 4 kitchen bags full of clothes out of the closet.  I came back with one pair of great fitting trousers, a dressy blouse, colored shell and over blouse. Not bad considering nothing in 4 stores even came close to my style. Several didn't have my size, and when I did find clothes to buy, I wanted them to feel good and be able to wear them not waste more money on clothes I don't wear. I wanted to feel good in them, and I do. Everything was 75% off the original prices, so I actually got a retail of over $400 in clothes.
Everything I purchased goes with what I have left in my closet and can be worn to run errands for the business, go to customer’s homes, or out to dinner.

So, for my first three months investment in your program, I have not only saved the $300 in clothes, but I feel good, great in fact, about how I look. Because I'm dressing for me right now, not being depressed about the way I used to look or will "someday" look.

So thank you for not only the "fashion" advice, but the inspiration of dressing for my body right now, not putting it off until "someday when I get thin again" thinking. I'm feeling healthier and the circle continues. The better I feel about myself, the more motivated I am to loose more weight, but in the mean time, I'm dressing for me, right now, the size I am.

Love, Kathy

Dearest MSP,

About 6 months ago I purchased my personal profile (I'm a very curvy B) and learned a lot but didn't put any of it into practice until about 3 months ago.

Finally, after years of HATING my body and crying whenever I tried clothes on in a dressing room, I am able to look in the mirror and stand tall! I accept the flaws with the idea that I can improve by going to the gym and, more importantly, I can finally ACCEPT that I have assets as well.

This is HUGE for me because I am finally able to take pride in my appearance instead of just throwing on whatever was available. I’ve now lost almost 20 lbs because I’m more aware of my body and want to take care for it. Wow your style help was the turning point for me!

Thank you so much for encouraging me to love my shape. Deb

Dear MSP,

I love your website and getting my personal profile each week.  I am learning so much!  I was never much into fashion or the latest styles when I was growing up.  My mom is my best friend and taught me many great things, but the proper styles and ways to dress and how to pamper myself was something she didn't get around to teaching me. Now at 30, I want to set a good example for my own daughter.  Your advice is teaching me all of the things I want to learn to be able to teach her.  Thank you so much!

MSP HERE: Dear Corrie,

Thank you so much for writing to me! I love hearing that my SYSters are feeling good about their style!

Our daughters learn so much from us. Since you are making an effort to dress your best, your daughter will value how she looks too. Girls with better self-esteem often put more time into their appearance and it reflects in their attitude as well.

Shopping together and talking about what looks good and why not only helps explain how to dress and your personal/moral values, but it also gives you time together to bond.

Again, thank you for your kind note. I am happy to hear you are passing on what you have learned to your daughter.

Love Leslie MSP
