What I’m loving right now. After reviewing the upcoming colors and trends for fall, I’m excited about how big an impact color will play in our wardrobes this season. It's about time we cheer up the dark winter skies by wearing beautiful rich colors instead of somber black! At the beginning of the season is the time to replace our fall wardrobe staples. Consider other colors besides black. Consider richer color combinations this season. I'll give you lots of color mixing ideas like: wearing burnt orange with deep wine reds and also, wearing grays with deep emerald and peacock blue...

Wearable pretty color combinations add fab style for every woman! I’m energized about the new deep red shades like merlot, aubergine and eggplant and mixing them with either a warm carmel brown, burnt orange, winter white or deep grays. There are also rich earth tones, bright bold colors and jewel tones...basically, something for every woman’s color palette.

Get in on the latest styles and trends for fall. Don’t miss out on all the latest picks for fall 2016. I’ll show you lots of wearable fashions you'll certainly want to give a few of them a try! Like lace and plaid worn together (sounds interesting, doesn’t it?)

When the weather cools, one of the first things you'll wear is a scarf.

How about this one? It's in this season's red!

MSP's Weekly Style Mission

This week's Style Mission: Go make friends with your tailor! Take at least one item in to your local tailor and have it altered to fit you perfectly.

The fact is, we all have unique feminine curves. Some of us have a fuller bust, some of us have a full booty, while others have a little extra in the middle--and every other body shape combination. Sometimes the fit of our clothes is close, but not quite right. So why do we expect "ready-to-wear" off the rack clothes will fit us all just right?

Take thee to a tailor!

You deserve clothes that fit right!

A good fit can make even a low-priced item look polished and expensive. Don’t be afraid to get items tailored, even if they were cheap. For a few dollars, a tailor can transform the most inexpensive item into a custom fitted piece for you.

Go ahead and do it! Grab just one item from your closet you would wear more if it fitted your better. Now go take it to the tailor. You can thank me later! (Really, you can thank me by sharing your "got it tailored" story). Email me at: missusmsp@windstream.net

Dear MissusSmartyPants...Last week's article was fantastic!

Dear Leslie-MissusSmartyPants,
This transition from summer into fall article is fantastic and the pictures are so helpful. Again you have done it!!!! I have been a member for quite a few years and just love all of your messages to us. I am happy to say that I have the basics needed for making stylish decisions. I am 89 years old and never look frumpy because of all the great ideas you send out to your members. You make it so easy to learn to put stuff together with what we already have. We learn to add what might be needed, but shopping isn't the main idea - it is learning to use what you have with some additions if necessary plus finding out what fits your body shape and your coloring. Thanks so much for all you do. You are a real blessing.
I've been a member for a couple of years now and have seen my style gradually improve. But this summer I feel like I've turned a corner. I'm putting together outfits that make me look and feel great, I'm wearing items in multiple ways, I'm getting compliments on my style, and I've built a coordinated (but not large!!) spring/summer wardrobe that makes all of that possible.
One thing that has really helped was starting a "style file" -- in my case, just a simple table to list what I wear each day (including accessories) so I can look back and see which combinations I haven't worn in a while or which items I didn't wear last week...that way I don't put items together in the same way all the time and get bored. I also rate the outfits and sometimes add suggestions for how to improve an outfit next time I wear it.
Just wanted to tell you how thrilled I am that your fabulous lessons are finally sinking in!
Now to tackle fall/winter...LOL!
Dear Leslie,
On the way to church this past Sunday, my husband asked, "Do I look good enough to be seen with you?"  Well, he asks me that all the time!  Then he said, "Thank you for not getting old!"  I'm almost 63 and about 30 lbs overweight (but working on that) and, of course, he was thanking me for still having some style at my age.  I will never trade what I have learned from you for a "granny-do" & frumpy clothes.  Thank you for all you have done for me!

Dear Missussmartypants
I was "window shopping on Coldwater Creek's website a couple days ago and I picked many of the same items on you shopping guide for this week!! We both can be proud that I'm learning what works for my body type thanks to your excellent advice.

Thank you,
