5-15-17 THIS WEEK: Slim in 10 Minutes!

This week: "Slim in 10 Minutes".

Truth: this week's topic sounds too good to be true.  And boy, couldn't we all use some assistance slimming down? Of course instant weight loss would be nice, but the truth is ... there is no magical wands or golden ticket that makes us instantly slimmer. However, I do have some AMAZING TIPS this week that will make you appear 10 pounds slimmer~instantly!

INSTANTLY dress slimmer! So put away your ab-roller and/or thigh-crusher thingie (unless you love that sort of thing)...I've got a better idea of how you can look instantly fantastic in your clothes.

Take a deep breath. I'm not going to suggest you wear super-tight shapewear (that takes 10 minutes to get out of...and that's bad when you have to use the bathroom, lol!). I'm your friend and I wouldn't do that to you! This week's article is concentrated on styles that 'slim' your body. So, if you have a curvy figure, a large bust, thick middle or large hips (some or all of these issues)...you can use these dressing tips to balance your shape. You will get complete outfits that explain why they are slimming and how to select your best 'slimming' styles for your wardrobe.

Join me this week as I share how you can look like you've lost 10 lbs (and of course we really don't have to). It's kinda like having your cake and eating it too (sorry, couldn't help myself, LOL!)

MSP's Weekly Style Mission

This week's Style Mission: Wear an A-line skirt this week.

This basic piece is one of the best 'figure fixers' a woman could ever own! Do you have one in your closet?

Whether your hips are slim or full and something curvy and in-between...an A-line skirt makes your figure look fab!

Hopefully you have at least one A-line skirt in your closet. If so, wear it this week. Wearing it will quickly remind you how wonderful and 'balanced' your shape truly is! If you don't own an A-line skirt yet, put it at the top of your must-have list!

A-line skirts are best in a solid color and in a year-round fabric. This way, you can wear this versatile skirt to work with pumps or for the weekend with playful flats!

What SYSters are Saying

Dear Leslie

I subscribe to your site, but like some people who join a gym but never go, I actually have to make myself go to your site. This morning I did, and read about what stylish women actually do to get that way. Time, care, grooming, to start with. I'm off to a job soon, I'm an organizer who has to dress in clean-cut "work clothes" like stretch pants and long-sleeved tee. But I will take the time to check my makeup and hair, and arrange a nice scarf, matching socks (no kidding, I often leave the house wearing mismatches)...THANK YOU, I am learning to care for my looks, ie: myself. And I will also get out more, seek fun events. I'm divorced for 8 years now, and I realize I depended on my partner for fun activities. I haven't dated since my divorce, I think you are helping me with more than clothes, these are really great lessons on self care.

Love, Dorothy

Dear Leslie,

I was a tad skeptical about getting a subscription to your personal fashion advice. But I thought for $15 that I would spend on something else, why not?

I have been ill and on medication for several years, the medication made me gain 18 pounds in a week. Depression, overeating, not being able to be active, boredom, overeating more, I gained another 60 pounds in 2 years. I work from home so don't need to "dress nice". My husband and I run a business from home and don't make much money for extras like clothes.

Really long story short, we got paid for a good sized job and I took $125 and went shopping after purging 4 kitchen bags full of clothes out of the closet.  I came back with one pair of great fitting trousers, a dressy blouse, colored shell and over blouse. Not bad considering nothing in 4 stores even came close to my style. Several didn't have my size, and when I did find clothes to buy, I wanted them to feel good and be able to wear them not waste more money on clothes I don't wear. I wanted to feel good in them, and I do. Everything was 75% off the original prices, so I actually got a retail of over $400 in clothes.
Everything I purchased goes with what I have left in my closet and can be worn to run errands for the business, go to customer’s homes, or out to dinner.

So, for my first three months investment in your program, I have not only saved the $300 in clothes, but I feel good, great in fact, about how I look. Because I'm dressing for me right now, not being depressed about the way I used to look or will "someday" look.

So thank you for not only the "fashion" advice, but the inspiration of dressing for my body right now, not putting it off until "someday when I get thin again" thinking. I'm feeling healthier and the circle continues. The better I feel about myself, the more motivated I am to lose more weight, but in the mean time, I'm dressing for me, right now, the size I am.

Love, Kathy

Dearest MSP,

About 6 months ago I purchased my personal profile (I'm a very curvy B) and learned a lot but didn't put any of it into practice until about 3 months ago.

Finally, after years of HATING my body and crying whenever I tried clothes on in a dressing room, I am able to look in the mirror and stand tall! I accept the flaws with the idea that I can improve by going to the gym and, more importantly, I can finally ACCEPT that I have assets as well.

This is HUGE for me because I am finally able to take pride in my appearance instead of just throwing on whatever was available. I’ve now lost almost 20 lbs because I’m more aware of my body and want to take care for it. Wow your style help was the turning point for me!

Thank you so much for encouraging me to love my shape. Deb

Dear MSP,

I love your website and getting my personal profile each week.  I am learning so much!  I was never much into fashion or the latest styles when I was growing up.  My mom is my best friend and taught me many great things, but the proper styles and ways to dress and how to pamper myself was something she didn't get around to teaching me. Now at 30, I want to set a good example for my own daughter.  Your advice is teaching me all of the things I want to learn to be able to teach her.  Thank you so much!

MSP HERE: Dear Corrie,

Thank you so much for writing to me! I love hearing about your style success.

Our daughters learn so much from us. Since you are making an effort to dress well, your daughter will learn that appearances matter. In fact, studies have shown girls with higher self-esteem often put more effort into their appearance.

Shopping together and talking about what looks good and why, not only helps explain how to dress; but more importantly it allows you to share your personal/moral values, while you spend precious time together.
